Life doesn’t work out like we hope. Let me tell you a story of my first big project in life and how it failed. In college I started a e-commerce business and it was booming within months. A year later a major partnership my business was in with another Internet business went south fast when the company I worked with went out of business overnight.
They owed me a lot of money, but shut down over night before ever paying me. That started a avalanche of financial problems for me that carried on after college. It was not my fault they went out of business, but rather than blame them (even though I was quite upset) I pushed on. I was quickly learning that the real world was not anything like college prepares you for.
I ended up in a industry that I never sought to be in. At the time jobs were not very open to people with out experience and the encomoy wasn’t doing good. The financial industry where I ended up I began to seek to learn and learn fast and learn well. I had to pay off debt and knew I wouldn’t be able to do it if I didn’t figure out a way to boost my finances. In time I began to learn techniques that I saw helping clients and started to see ways that knowledge I had gained from past business experience and from other books I had read. I began to seek out experts in many fields and in time I discovered a way that I was pretty sure would help me get back on my feet.
I went to work with trial and error and in about a year had found a way that worked like I thought it would. I was back on my feet and started to look for ideas of how to start to grow some wings to do things in life I had always wanted to do, but had never been able to do. Yet, I didn’t want to do something just to make money, I wanted to make a difference some how. So I started doing what helped me for others and then from there I just kept expanding to offer new programs. No one else was doing what I had discovered like I was doing it and new programs developed as clients came with new needs.
Though it has gone through many changes and I’ve expanded it and added more programs it all started from me starting to do for others what worked for me. I’ve had inquiries of people wanting my input on their new ideas and investments for years now and am open to hearing new ideas, but I have a policy that I do not invest financially into them. I will offer my expertise, but I have a policy of no financial investment and I also do not join multi-level marketing programs. If you however have a new idea and would like mentorship that is something I would consider. My fees are not cheap and I do require royalties or profit sharing and I can’t take on everyone as a client in this way as I simply do not have enough time. However all of my clients have agreed that any percent of ownership and profit sharing is better than 0% on million dollar investments! Most of my clients though fall in the middle class category and are simply looking for debt relief, to buy a vacation home or investors looking to get started or expand. I do work with a few larger investors, but honestly I’ve found that the more sucessful a larger investor is the more demanding they are. They also simply don’t need a mentor or a financial expert to help with financing. Occassionaly I’ll get a new client though whose previous consultant for financing was unable to get his deal done and when then I am their last hope they come down to earth. As you can tell I choose who I work with. I’m not out to become the richest person in the world and living a full life is my focus – not money.
Another thing that has lead to my success with my program is I understand the stress of finances. I understand that crazy things in life that go wrong are not your fault. Sometimes we do make dumb choices (buying that stock my uncle told me was going to be hot when it was outside of what I normally looked for was simply stupid of me), but big things in life that go wrong are rarely our fault. That doesn’t mean we go around blaming everyone and stay in a horrible attitude all day long. That is only going to make your life worse. One thing that has helped me is my ability to not let loosing a “big” deal stress me out. I’ve learned there are many “big fish” out there and not to let the one that got away deter me from casting my line back out that same day for the next one.
I also realize that there is perhaps nothing more frustrating that going to a bank or a so called “professional” or “expert” and getting one of two looks or worst yet both. I’m sure you know them both too. The first is the look of “how did you mess up your finances so much” or the second look of “your crazy you can’t do that”. Bankers and most up tight “professionals” are know for theiri lack of the being able to think of creative solutions. They are trained to find problems, not solutions.
The funny thing is all the well known experts almost gett where they did because they were creative in finding solutions to problems and sought out people who would help them. Rarely were those who helped them professionals or experts. You have to ask yourself is the professional in his little 8-5 office in the large corporate building is so good at what he does why is he there 5 days a week with only 1-2 weeks of vacation a year?
When you work with me in using my program and the line of products that I offer you can rest assured knowing you are working with a expert who will not judge you, who understands life doesn’t work out how we hope and I don’t just quit on you. I’m not shocked by low credit scores or high credit scores, so don’t worry about that or think I’m going to be impressed with your 800 credit score. I haven’t met many 800 credit scores with all that much in retirement, savings or in assets. They have good credit, income and are easy to get approved, but they also know they have much too loose. One thing that has held me back in the past was my fear of “hurting” my credit score so much to the point I would pass on great real estate investments afraid of the million things that could go wrong. I’ve noticed that my most sucessful investors started with less than perfect credit – they weren’t afraid of dings on their credit.
I have also removed the “can’t be done” phrase from my vocabulary.
Something may not be able to be done how you want to do it, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done another way. Your time frame may not be the time frame it will take to get done what you want done. It might be faster or it might take longer. But the key to it is don’t give up. There is more than 1 way to get from California to New York. I’m sure you can think of more than one way. Let me help you find other ways to get goals done for you in the same way – there are many ways to get them done.
I work with respect of my clients as people. As people who are moms, dads or maybe someone’s brother or sister. I work with integrity. I work morally, ethically and legally. I was raised with a work ethic and to treat people right.
I’ve learned being financially independant is a blessing, but it’s not everything. I’ve learned being happy and satisfied with life is not directly linked to the amount of money in your bank account. I really never was down or depressed all that much when things weren’t going so good – I had the hope and belief things would change and yet I took action to get there. You have to have hope, but you have to also take action. Good thinking has to be followed with action.
I have also learned you can help more causes and enjoy more things in life that require money - when you have it. Money isn’t bad or good. It’s paper. What you do for it or with it can be good or bad. If you don’t learn how to live life and make your plans and choices of what your going to do when you are financially independant – your going to run into big problems when you are.
Breaking guiding principles in life simply does not pay off in the long run. I refuse to live life any other way. I’ve quit a job and I’ve lost a job by no fault of my own. I started and failed in two businesses before I started my program.
I’ve been through trials and learned to live life to the fullest each day - not waiting for things to change “one day”. You’ll waste your life waiting if you are waiting now.
